FAQs

Who may rent a boat?

Boat Rentals are available for anyone who possess general boating knowledge, is at least18 years old and has a current driver’s license and valid credit card.

What types of boats do you offer?

We offer pontoon boats for rental. They are all well-maintained and new boats are cycled in yearly.

Are life-jackets provided?

Standard, adult, coast guard regulation life-jackets (the orange ones we’ve all seen) are provided.  Adults are not required to wear personal floatation devices (PFDs). Children 12 years and younger are required to wear PFDs while the boat is under way. By law there should be 1 PFD for every person and 1 throw cushion per vessel.

What should I bring on the boat?

The essentials are water and sunscreen! You’ll probably also want to pack beach towels, a cooler (we also can provide a cooler and do have ice for sale) with snacks and beverages, sunglasses, and bug spray.  BUT, Please but no glass containers and no grilling. If we find evidence of glass or grilling on a boat, you will be charged a minimum $50 fee.  Alcohol is allowed on the boat for passengers to enjoy – it is prohibited for the operator to be under the influence while boating.

How do I book a Boat Rental?

Simply click on BOOK NOW of this website and follow the instructions. ALL BOOKINGSS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. A six-month credit is provided on cancellations with at least 72 hours notice of the booking; otherwise, the booking is void and you do not receive credit. No credit or partial credit will be provided for returning a boat to the dock before the scheduled return time (if you return a boat early, there is no credit for unused time).

What if I need to cancel my booking?

Contact the office within the designated cancellation window;  if not, the booking is void and you do not receive credit.

What do I do if I have a booking and there is bad weather?

If there is inclement weather (storms with high winds, lightening and thunder) at the time of your booking and we cancel your outing, you will be contacted and provided the option of a refund or credit. If there is inclement weather during your outing and we call you back to the dock cancelling the outing, you will be provided a partial credit for the time unused. If it is raining on the day of your outing, you may contact us at least two (2) hours prior to your booking and we will provide you with a six-month credit.

Are there any restrictions on where we can take the boat?

The boundaries of our rentals are: The Intracostal Waterway stopping at the north end of The Narrows just before the Indian Rocks Bridge. Much of Boca Ciega Bay.  The  Intracoastal Waterway south through Blinds Pass to Shell Island.  There is NO GULF ACCESS in our rental boats, and all boats must adhere within the boundary areas at all times. (Due to insurance regulations the boat cannot be taken into the Gulf of Mexico.)

I’ve never operated a boat before, do I need to take a class?

We suggest all boat operators take an online boating safety course prior to operating a motor vessel.We provide a thorough instruction on operating the boat at the dock.

Where do I fuel the boat?

Fuel is available at the dock where you pick-up and return the boat. It is not permitted for you to bring/provide your own fuel.  The price of the boat rental does not include tax or fuel. Every boat leaves with a full tank and will be topped off upon return to account for the fuel used.
